From a hopeless Teen mother, and school dropout to a scholarship in USA.

This is Maria Najjuma's Success Story , told by the Academy Head Coach

When we met Maria, she was an ordinary village teen mother living with a single mum and whole family was struggling financially. We introduced her to Basketball and since then, she has risen from glory to glory

It was one evening when a friend of mine shared with me about a tall girl on their village living with her mum who was also not doing so well financially and in her health, that was just about it, I asked him to bring me the girl, I introduced basket to her an she fell in love with the game right away, this was only the start of what we can call a wonderful journey. I came to learn that she had stopped school at a very tender age but she wanted to go back to school.

Maria's Success Stories Continues....

Maria was a bit older than the level but sill was willing to go back to a low level, her determination to study with kids so much younger than her gave us the foundation to help her even though it had been so long since she last studied. I took her back to school at Nations changers Christian school, and through hard work she sat her primary leaving examinations PLE and passed.

The next year through our program she got a scholarship with St, Noa girls S.S, where she was called upon on our national team for U16 where she out up stats rarely seen, picking over 30 bounds over 30 points in a game. Fast forward, Maria got a scholarship in the US, and gone on to play for our national team performing very well.

This is story of giving someone a second chance which everyone deserves especially young girls like Maria but the importance of spotting, developing promoting talent cannot be overstated and that’s what country girls exists to do, we also know very well it is generous people who have helped us write stories like these, by deciding to be pa of what we do in any way you help us write more chapters in this story of transformation of communities through talents and skills
