When young people know what they want, it becomes easy to guide them.
This is Saima Christine's Success Story , told by the Academy Head Coach
Christine, the Capi as we love to call her, became captain of the biggest basket balling school in Uganda in a space of three years after joining secondary school. Her leadership skills and maturity are second to none in our organization. You would describe her as every coach’s dream.
Saima is a good example of the importance of helping young people make the right decisions at an early age. Her parents could not afford the public school fee of about 20 dollars, so she practically dropped out of school eventually. However, Saima lived very close to our primary school and she admired what we did in school and ever evening when we did our co-curricular activities she would come and run with our kids who were preparing for inter schools competition at a time.

Saima's Success Stories Continues....

When the time for competition came, we integrated her in our team since she was of school going age and she performed exceptionally well to the point where we had to give her a school bursary for 2 years when the competition was over. It is during those two years that we introduced Saima to the world of Basketball and she has never looked back since then. She later secured an athletic secondary school bursary when she became an exceptional athlete to the point was she was elected a school captain, 3 years after joining the school on a bursary program.
There are many more kids like Saima who just need be discovered and given an opportunity to express themselves. Today, Saima is the captain on St Mary’s college Katende where she got a six years bursary.
